Trip Packing Lists

  • Fishing Gear:

    If you don't have your own, our guides provide flies, rods and reels. Boots and waders are not included and can be rented at our shop. Other things to consider are:

    • Fishing vest or pack.

    • Fishing net.

    • Nippers, forceps, and line cleaner.

    • Extra spool or backup line.

    Clothing:

    • Polarized sunglasses.

    • Moisture-wicking base layer and socks.

    • Quick-dry shirt and pants.

    • Hat and buff or neck gaiter.

    • Lightweight rain jacket if needed.

    Essentials:

    • Sunscreen and insect repellent.

    • Water bottle or hydration pack.

    • Snacks.

    • First aid kit.

    • Idaho fishing license (available at our shop).

    • Small dry bag for valuables.

    Lunch is included with full day trips. Lunch is $15 per person for 1/2 day and 3/4 day trips, or you may pack your own!

  • Fishing Gear:

    Please discuss with your guide what you will need if not provided or available for rental.

    • Fly Rod: Make sure it’s the right weight and length for your target species.

    • Fly Reel: With spare spools if needed.

    • Fly Lines: Include floating, sinking, and/or intermediate lines as needed.

    • Flies: A variety of patterns suited to the local fish species.

    • Leaders/Tippets: Different weights and lengths.

    • Fly Box: To keep your flies organized.

    • Nippers: For cutting line.

    • Forceps: For removing hooks and other tasks.

    • Fly Floatant: To keep your dry flies buoyant.

    • Strike Indicators: For better bite detection.

    • Fly Rod Case: To protect your rod during transport.

    Clothing

    • Quick-Dry Shirts: For sun protection and comfort.

    • Fishing Vest or Chest Pack: For carrying gear.

    • Fishing Pants or Shorts: Quick-drying and comfortable.

    • Sun Gloves: To protect your hands from sunburn.

    • Waders: With boots, if you’re wading in water.

    • Rain Pants: To stay dry in wet conditions.

    Camping Gear

    • Tent: With a rainfly.

    • Sleeping Bag: Suitable for the expected temperatures.

    • Sleeping Pad: For insulation and comfort.

    • Camping Stove: For cooking meals.

    • Fuel: For the stove.

    • Cooking Utensils: Pot, pan, spatula, etc.

    • Eating Utensils: Plate, bowl, fork, knife, spoon.

    • Cooler: To keep perishable items fresh.

    • Food: Non-perishable items and easy-to-cook meals.

    • Water: Enough for drinking, cooking, and cleaning. Consider a water filter or purification tablets.

    • Trash Bags: For packing out trash.

    Safety & Navigation

    • First Aid Kit: Include items for treating cuts, blisters, and any potential injuries.

    • Map and Compass: Or a GPS device.

    • Emergency Whistle: For signaling.

    • Multi-Tool or Knife: For various tasks.

    • Fire Starter: Matches, lighter, or fire starter.

    Personal Items

    • Sunscreen: High SPF to protect against sunburn.

    • Insect Repellent: To keep bugs at bay.

    • Personal Medications: Any needed prescriptions or over-the-counter meds.

    • Camera or Smartphone: For photos and communication.

    • Notebook and Pen: For jotting down notes or fishing observations.

    • Water Bottle: or hydration pack.

    • Toiletries: Toothbrush, toothpaste, soap, etc.

    • Towel: Quick-dry or camp towel.

    • Fishing Permit/License: Ensure you have the necessary permits for your destination.

    • Book or Journal: For relaxation in the evenings.
