For decades Sun Valley has been famous for skiing. And most people were under the impression that Sun Valley only had skiing in the winter. But now the secret is out, we fish in the winter too. And when the day time temperatures rise, so do the fish! The Big Wood River and The Big Lost River are the primary winter fisheries. Both rivers offer great nymphing opportunities on any given day, but when the temperature rises to a little above freezing or higher, the dry fly action heats up. Midges are the most prolific hatch but a few baetis can be found in the early spring. So the next time you come to Sun Valley skiing, remember to bring your rod and stop by the shop to find out where the best fishing is for that day.
