This river is among the finest freestone streams in the country. It’s numerous insect hatches and rapid fish growth rate make for large eager trout. It is predominantly Rainbows, but a few Browns and Brook trout can be found scattered throughout it’s 30 or so miles of fishable waters. Whether you are a beginner or a seasoned fly-fisher, the Wood River is first class. The Wood River can be easily waded after spring runoff in June and can be fished with dries, nymph’s or streamer flies all season including the winter months.
